NR24 2RL ![]() You’re never short of an opportunity for activity in NorfolkWhile Norfolk is renowned for the natural beauty of its coastline and charming villages, there are also plenty of opportunities for an active holiday in the county. Many of these activities are water based, either on the Norfolk Broads or off the coast. And from any of the North Norfolk Hotels you may stay in, getting to centres for such activities is never difficult. The Broads are perfect for sailing, either on a small dinghy or a motorboat, and setting off to navigate the wonderful waterways of this famous Norfolk phenomenon. There is a great selection of Norfolk Pubs, either on the water side or in small villages close, by for a refreshing drink or a bite to eat as you go. Off the coast, there are more opportunities to sail, with several pleasant quays and harbours offering mooring. A lot of these locations also have some of the well-known Norfolk Restaurants, so it is easy to build in a tasty lunch or a delicious evening meal to the day's activities. Close to Norwich is the water activity centre at Whitlingham Broad, which has numerous opportunities for sailing, canoeing or kayaking. In the same area is also the popular dry ski slope, where you can hire skis and boots and spend the afternoon traversing the slopes at any time of the year or honing your technique ready for the winter season in the Alps. For the more energetic, there is the opportunity to enjoy water skiing, jet skis or even kite surfing, but not all of the activities you may wish to enjoy in Norfolk are water based. The county is criss-crossed by walking and cycle routes, some of which are off road and follow the course of some of the county's disused rail routes. It is simple to hire a cycle and head off for the day and cover a reasonable distance along clearly sign-posted routes. Some of the Norfolk boutique hotels are in the countryside and are perfect starting points for a cycling excursion. Pack a picnic or look out for a pub for a snack and refreshments along your route.
